Details and limits

Wallabag is a local MCP server for a self-hosted Wallabag read-it-later server. The package name is wallabag-mcp. You run it over stdio or stateless Streamable HTTP on localhost. It does not start Wallabag for you. This is free; the catalogue price is Free.

Works with Wallabag. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Wallabag project.

There is no hosted service in this listing. Create an API client in your Wallabag account under Developer. Set WALLABAG_BASE_URL to your server, then either the OAuth2 password-grant variables (WALLABAG_CLIENT_ID, WALLABAG_CLIENT_SECRET, WALLABAG_USERNAME, WALLABAG_PASSWORD) or a pre-issued WALLABAG_ACCESS_TOKEN. Tokens, passwords and client secrets are redacted everywhere.

Writes are confirm-gated. A write is a dry-run preview when confirm is omitted. confirm must be the boolean true, and WALLABAG_ALLOW_WRITES must be the literal true. Deletes, bulk URL lists and user registration carry an extra warning.

The default WALLABAG_TOOLSETS publishes 6 tools. Set it to all for 7 tools (29 operations). Each tool takes an action field. Entry export files (epub, pdf) and the HTML developer portal are not exposed.

The local limit defaults to 30 requests a minute. A cache hit does not spend that window.

Checked live against a real Wallabag 2.6.15 server: 18 checks passed. Other routes are covered by mock-server tests only.

Wallabag is MIT. The connector is MIT and only calls the public REST API.
