Details and limits

Immich is a local MCP server for an Immich photo and video server you already run, self-hosted. The package name is immich-mcp. You run it over stdio or stateless Streamable HTTP on localhost. This is free; the catalogue price is Free.

Works with Immich. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Immich project.

There is no hosted service in this listing. Bring your own API key. Create one in Immich under Account settings, API Keys. Set IMMICH_URL to your server and IMMICH_API_KEY to the key. The key is sent as the x-api-key header and is never printed.

Read-only by default. Writes are confirm-gated. A write is a dry-run preview when confirm is omitted. confirm must be the boolean true. When confirm:true and IMMICH_ALLOW_WRITES is not the string true, the write is blocked with a clear message. Deletes, empty trash, user deletion, library removal, session and API key revoke, shared-link creation and admin config changes carry extra warnings in the preview.

The connector covers all 199 paths and 287 operations in the Immich 3.3.0-rc.0 OpenAPI spec, grouped into 22 toolsets, one MCP tool per toolset with an action field. Set IMMICH_TOOLSETS to enable only the toolsets you want. The default set is assets, albums, people, search and server (5 tools). Use all for every toolset. This keeps the model context small.

Uploads read a local file_path. Downloads save to a local save_path or return metadata. Binary data is never dumped into the model context. Server filesystem paths and secrets are stripped from output.

The local limit defaults to 30 requests a minute. A cache hit does not spend that window.

Checked live against a real Immich v3.3.0-rc.0 server built from source: 28 checks passed, covering reads, previews and confirmed writes for albums, tags, asset upload and download, memories, shared links and API keys. Operations not in that list are covered by mock-server tests only.

Immich is AGPL-3.0. The connector is MIT and only calls the public REST API.
