Details and limits

ChangeDetection is a local MCP server for a changedetection.io instance. The package name is changedetection-mcp. You run it over stdio or stateless Streamable HTTP on localhost. It does not start changedetection.io for you.

Works with changedetection.io. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the changedetection.io project.

There is no hosted service in this listing. Bring your own API key. Create it in changedetection.io under Settings, API. Set CHANGEDETECTION_URL to your instance and CHANGEDETECTION_API_KEY to the key. The connector sends it as x-api-key and never prints it.

Writes are confirm-gated. A write is a dry-run preview when confirm is omitted. confirm must be the boolean true. When confirm:true and CHANGEDETECTION_ALLOW_WRITES is not the literal true, the tool returns the preview, sets blocked to true, and does not call the instance. Recheck uses GET on the upstream API. This connector still treats it as a write.

changedetection_list_history returns uuid, count, and snapshots with timestamp and iso_time. It does not return server filesystem paths.

The local limit defaults to 30 requests a minute. A cache hit does not spend that window.

The connector code is MIT. changedetection.io is Apache-2.0. Hosted use is also covered by the changedetection.io terms of service.
